Sarah Van Bas is a British contemporary artist best known for her large-scale mirror paintings that fuse bold language with iconic, nostalgic, and sensual imagery. Her work is instantly recognisable for its stylish interplay of text and surface—equal parts poetic, provocative, and chic.
Rooted in her experience within the fashion and music industries, Sarah’s practice celebrates glamour, feminine power, eroticism and visual seduction. Lyrics, affirmations, and evocative phrases meet striking visuals—creating artworks that feel like intimate love letters, feminist manifestos, or lost pages from an album sleeve.
Educated at the London College of Printing, she works across various mediums including fine art, printmaking, screen printing, Collage, digital design and photography. Her mixed-media process reflects the layered energy of her subjects: fierce women, music, emotional memory, pop culture and the rhythm of desire.
Through her signature mirror works, Sarah invites the viewer to temporarily become part of the piece—reflecting themselves both literally and emotionally. As she explains: “Whether refracting the gaze or revealing the truth within, mirrors carry powerful symbolism. In ancient cultures, they were more than reflective surfaces—they were symbols of magic and wisdom, not only showing you physical experience but connecting to a spiritual world - portals to insight, protection, and healing. For me, they are tools for healing the soul, emotional transformation and self-affirmation.”
Her work is currently exhibited in galleries across Europe and the United States, connecting audiences to themes of self-love, erotic nostalgia, and the visual language of empowerment.
Her work resonates with collectors drawn to emotionally charged, visually striking pieces that blend intimacy with cultural commentary.
Sarah currently lives and works in London & Ibiza.
